“The video consultation was professional and helpful. Jo was really thorough in analysing and providing exercises for my knee injury. This is certainly a good form of consultation in the absence of face to face appointments”.

"I badly injured my right knee (ruptured ACL and sprained MCL) whilst skiing, and desperately needed to pursue physio rehabilitation at the start of the Covid-19 Lockdown. Fortunately, I found Jo Pereira, who organised regular physio consultations with me via video link. Jo devised a programme of exercises for me (sent via email), and regularly monitored my progress, adapting my exercises accordingly, despite the fact we were unable to meet in person. I am absolutely delighted with the massive improvement in my knee, and my general mobility, and now feel confident I will be able to ski again without resorting to surgery. Having had a very positive experience using video consultations, I would definitely recommend them in the current circumstances".

Pilates
can be beneficial for just about anyone regardless of age and fitness level. It is a gentle, safe and very effective form of exercise which improves general flexibilty and strength, improves posture and reduces the risk of injury. It is particularly beneficial for people who suffer from or have suffered from back or neck pain and we often receive referrals from GPs and other health professionals to help in the recovery of these and many other musculo-skeletal injuries.

Pilates focusses on improving the strength of 'the core' which is the group of muscles that support the low back and pelvis. With a strong core, we can lessen the work of other muscles and joints which in turn reduces the risk of injury or re-occurance of injury.
It is fast becoming a trend all over the world and is certainly here to stay.

Apart from it being a fun and social activity, there are so may benefits :
  • Improves posture, mobility and flexibility
  • Increases muscle tone and length
  • Promotes a more supportive core
  • Increases stability for the pelvis, low back and shoulders
  • Fosters the health of joints
  • Improves balance and coordination in the elderly
  • Excellent for ante and post-natal women
  • Alleviates aches and pains
  • Encourages correct breathing patterns
  • Facilitates physical rehabilitation and reduces the risk of injury
