Jo helped me through a very painful occurrence of Iliotibial Band Syndrome that seems a mystery to me - a sharp pain below my knee that radiates from the gluteal region and back and which is typically a runner injury (I am not one!) - two courses of treatment have seen me fully recovered after struggling with the issue for a year or more. I have been a client of Functional Physio for nearly a decade. After initially being treated for a flare-up of an old injury, I became a regular at Jo's excellent Pilates classes, which have helped me to rebuild my core strength, correct postural issues, and self-manage. Unfortunately earlier this year I had a serious car crash. Jo's initial assessment and subsequent treatment plan has helped me cope with and recover from severe whiplash injuries. She got me weight-bearing and walking again despite damage to the nerves of my left leg. I am so grateful to both Jo and Catherine for their skill, professionalism, and compassion at such a challenging time. I can't recommend them highly enough!

I have used Functional Physio’s services on several occasions over the latter years. Recently Jo successfully identified and corrected an issue that was causing severe pain in my neck, shoulder, and arm - it was reassuring to hear “I can correct that…” and it’s exactly what she did and I was soon able to resume normal life. I have used the services of Functional Physio a number of times over the last three years for degenerative back pain issues and a knee injury. Jo and Catherine have both provided excellent support, professionally diagnosing the root cause / issue and providing the treatment needed to help me get mobile again in the shortest possible time. Their pro-activity in helping me get active and address underlying posture related issues to avoid re-occurrence of symptoms is refreshing and instils a positive mind set. As part of the pro-active avoidance approach, I have been attending pilates classes run by Jo for several years and found the benefits in flexibility and muscular control have contributed to a reduction in back related issues.

After a nasty motorbike accident where I snapped both of my legs and smashed my ankle to pieces, I spent several months in bed unable to walk, which further damaged the muscles and ligaments in my legs. I hobbled into Jo's care on crutches, wondering if I would ever walk properly again... Jo immediately diagnosed the issues and devised a course of easy to follow exercises and stretches to counteract the problems I had. I'm now able to walk long distances again and am very grateful for the huge improvement Jo has made to my quality of life; she is obviously an expert physiotherapist with a wealth of experience and a very genial manner. I would definitely recommend a visit to Functional Physio to get a high quality assessment and to devise a plan to rectify whatever problem you have it could be the wisest investment decision you make this year!

Having suddenly become non weight bearing on one leg three days before Christmas... my GP recommended that I make an appointment with the Functional Physiotherapy Team down the corridor at the Health Centre. I was seen by Vicky who has joined Catherine and Jo. Her reassurance and assessment, followed by ultrasound and an exercise programme worked wonders.

I met Catherine on my second visit and she was equally caring and efficient. In fact after three sessions, I had thrown my sticks away! I shall not hesitate to seek their help again should the need arise.
